What's New

New updates and improvements to GolfSheet

Manual Handicap Overrides

Improvement

GolfSheet has always allowed admins to manually override a golfer’s handicap on a per-match basis. Now, admins can set a manual handicap directly on the golfer profile.

This is especially useful for leagues that want to use each player’s official and GHIN handicap instead of GolfSheet’s calculated league handicap. Set the golfer’s handicap once, and GolfSheet will automatically use that value whenever handicaps are pulled into a match, including the “Get Current” button. You no longer need to override the same GHIN number round by round.

To set it: go to Golfers, click Edit on the golfer, and enter the value in Manual handicap override. Leave it blank to keep using GolfSheet’s calculated handicap.

New Side Game: Foursome Greenies

New

We’ve added a new side game called Foursome Greenies.
When enabled for a round, each tee-time foursome (4 golfers in one tee time) competes as a group, and the foursome with the most GIRs on the selected holes wins the pot.

  • Pot is split evenly among the winning foursome.
  • Tie handling is configurable: split the pot or push to next round.
  • Greenies can be played on any holes you choose (par 3, par 4, par 5, single-hole, or full custom selection).

Greenies is a round-level setting, so if it’s enabled for a round, it applies to that round’s eligible submitted golfers (not individual opt-in/out per golfer).

More Flexible Scoring

Improvement

You asked for scoring flexibility, and it’s live.

  1. Stableford can now run alongside head-to-head points
In Individual rounds, you can combine Stableford with match play/stroke play scoring instead of choosing one or the other. Stableford is shown separately on the scorecard so it’s easy to track.
  2. Low Net / Low Actual bonuses now work in Field play
Field rounds can now award Low Net and Low Actual bonus points too, giving you more options for Ryder Cup-style or hybrid formats. Round cards now show clear bonus indicators (Net and/or Actual) so bonus wins are visible at a glance.

Bulk Round Score Entry for League Admins

New

League admins can now update an entire round’s scores from one screen.

The new Bulk Update Scores view gives you a spreadsheet-style table of all golfers and holes for a round, making it much faster to enter or correct scores without opening each match individually.

What You Can Do

  • View all matches for a round in one place
  • Enter or edit hole-by-hole strokes for every golfer
  • Save all changes at once
  • Quickly fix submitted scores without jumping between scorecards

Designed for Fast Admin Work

  • Full-width table layout for large rounds
  • Sticky hole headers so you always know which hole you’re editing
  • Match grouping to keep rows easier to scan
  • Larger score inputs for faster data entry
  • Visual highlighting for modified cells before saving
  • Live-updating row totals as scores change

Notes

  • This is an admin-only tool
  • It currently supports strokes only
  • Existing match recalculation and leaderboard updates still run after save

You can find it from the round page in the 3-dot admin menu under Bulk Update Scores.

New Side Game - Fewest Putts

New

We've added a new side game — Fewest Putts. The golfer with the lowest total putt count for the round takes the pot. Ties split evenly.

How it works

  • Everyone in the round contributes a set dollar amount to the Fewest Putts pot
  • At the end of the round, the golfer(s) with the fewest total putts wins
  • Winnings are split equally among tied winners
  • Results appear in the Fewest Putts box on the round page alongside Skins, Low Net, and other side games
  • Payouts are included in the round's Payouts summary

Setup

An admin can enable Fewest Putts and set the buy-in amount in the round's gambling preferences. Once enabled, make sure putts are recorded hole-by-hole on the scorecard — the game requires a complete putt count for every golfer to be eligible.

Fill Match Scores From a Scorecard Photo

New

GolfSheet can now help you enter match scores from a completed paper scorecard.

From the Enter Scores page for a match, open the action menu, choose Fill scores from photo, and upload a photo of the completed scorecard. GolfSheet will read the visible hole-by-hole scores and fill them into the match for you.

How it works

  • Open a match’s Enter Scores page
  • Tap the three-dot menu
  • Choose Fill scores from photo
  • Upload a photo of the completed scorecard
  • Review the filled-in scores carefully
  • Make any corrections needed
  • Submit the card

Important notes

  • This feature is designed to save time, not replace review
  • AI can make mistakes, especially with unclear handwriting, partial photos, or names that do not match the players in the match
  • GolfSheet will show warning messages if the AI is unsure about parts of the scorecard
  • Duplicate uploads of the same image are blocked
  • Each match currently allows up to 3 scorecard photo attempts

Best results

For the best score extraction:

  • Take the photo in good lighting
  • Make sure the full scorecard is visible
  • Keep the image straight and in focus
  • Use a scorecard where player names are readable and match the players in the match as closely as possible

This is a great option for groups that still prefer to keep score on paper during the round but want faster digital score entry afterward.

Smarter Tee Time Groupings

Improvement

Tee time assignments are now automatically balanced so you're not stuck in the same foursome every week. Previously, tee times were assigned randomly — now the schedule builder actively spreads out who you're grouped with across the season.

What you'll notice:

  • More variety in your foursome each week
  • Fewer "I always play with that guy" situations
  • Better chance of sharing a tee time with everyone in the league

For leagues that want even more balance, there's a new strict mode option when building your schedule. It runs a more thorough optimization that takes a bit longer but produces an even flatter distribution of pairings.

No action needed — just rebuild your schedule to get the new groupings.

Field Play + Stableford Scoring

New

You can now run rounds that aren’t forced into head-to-head “vs” matchups.

What’s New

Field Competition (Non Head-to-Head)

Choose Competition: Field to score golfers against the whole field instead of an opponent. Scorecards still work the same, but groups are treated as scoring groups, not rivals.

Stableford Scoring (Net)

Run points-based Stableford leagues with per-hole points calculated from net score vs par:

  • <= -4: 6
  • -3: 5
  • -2: 4
  • -1: 3
  • 0: 2
  • +1: 1
  • >= +2: 0

Field + Stroke Play (Leaderboard-Style)

Choose Field + Stroke Play for tournament-style rounds where results come from the leaderboard (no opponent comparisons, no matchup points).

Standings: Leaderboard Tab

Standings now includes a Leaderboard view so stroke play field rounds have a proper big-board experience.

How To Use It

  1. Go to Season Settings or Round Settings
  2. Set Competition to Field
  3. Choose Scoring Method: Stroke Play or Stableford

Notes

  • Field mode is currently available for Individual scoring.
  • Head-to-head scoring works exactly as before.

Live Leaderboard

New

We just launched a brand-new Leaderboard experience—perfect for leagues, and just as useful for tournaments, weekend golf trips, member-guest events, and any group round where you want everyone to see where things stand.

What’s new

  • Live updates in real time as scores come in
  • Round Leaderboard with a hole-by-hole scoring view
  • Season Leaderboard that only includes rounds marked “count towards standings”
  • Sort by score relative to par
  • Toggle views:
    • Gross / Net
    • Individual / Team
  • TV Mode for big-screen display during live events
  • Shareable leaderboard links for players and spectators
  • An improved responsive layout that works cleanly on mobile and desktop

Where to find it

Open any round and tap Leaderboard.

Admins can also share leaderboard links and use TV Mode to run live scoring at tournaments, trip weekends, and league nights.

Group Stats

New
The season stats page has always been one of our leagues' favorite things to look at. Now you can see those same stats across your entire league history.

What's included:
  • Points (total, per round, per season)
  • Pars, birdies, and par-or-better counts
  • Low net and low actual wins
  • Lowest scores ever recorded
  • Skins, CTPs, and cash standings
  • Average score and consistency rating

Filter how you want:
  • Presets for all time, last year, last 3 years, or last 5 years
  • Custom date ranges
  • Toggle between individuals and scramble teams
  • Include or exclude subs

Find it under Group Stats in the navigation.

Sub Request System

New
Need a sub for an upcoming round? You can now send sub requests directly from the app.

How it works:
  • Click "Request Sub" on any match where you can't make it
  • Eligible subs receive an email with an option to accept/decline
  • Once someone accepts, they're automatically assigned to your slot and you'll both get confirmation emails
  • If plans change, subs can back out and the original golfer is restored

Wave option:
Instead of blasting everyone at once, you can send requests in waves prioritized by who has subbed the least this season. This gives infrequent subs first dibs before notifying the regulars. Wave timing adjusts automatically based on how soon the round is—faster waves when time is short.

Handicap Index Sliding Scale

Improvement
For golfers who haven't yet posted enough scores to reach your league's full Handicap Index calculation, you can now configure a sliding scale that mirrors World Handicap System methodology.

How it works:

Instead of padding scores with averages, you define tiers that specify how many Score Differentials to use based on how many acceptable scores are in a golfer's scoring record. For each tier, configure:

  • Scores available – Number of acceptable scores in the scoring record
  • Best differentials to exclude – Low outliers to discard
  • Worst differentials to exclude – High outliers to discard

The remaining differentials are averaged to calculate the Handicap Index.

Example (World Handicap System):

  • 3-5 scores → use lowest 1
  • 6-8 scores → use lowest 2
  • 9-11 scores → use lowest 3
  • 12-14 scores → use lowest 4
  • 20+ scores → use lowest 8

If a golfer's score count falls between defined tiers, the system interpolates automatically. Leave the sliding scale empty to continue using the legacy averaging method.

Configure this in your account's Handicap Calculation Settings.

New Game - Team Low Net

New
We’ve introduced “Team Low Net,” which can be played in both Team and Individual modes. In Team mode, each team’s net scores are summed, and the lowest total wins. In Individual mode, it works the same way, provided “teams” are set up—even if they’re not used for the league format.

New Stat - Consistency Rating

New
We are excited to introduce a new stat to help you better understand your performance on the course: Consistency Rating!

What is Consistency Rating?
Consistency Rating measures how consistent your scores are over the season. It provides valuable insights into your performance stability, helping you identify areas for improvement.

How is it Calculated?
Consistency Rating is based on the standard deviation of your scores. A lower Consistency Rating value indicates that your scores are more consistent, while a higher value suggests more variability in your performance.

Why is it Important?
Understanding your Consistency Rating can help you:

  • Track your progress over time
  • Identify patterns in your performance
  • Set more informed goals for improvement

Check out your Consistency Rating stat in your season's stat section today!

Rounding options for handicap calculation

Improvement
From the Handicap Calculation Settings section of the Group Settings page, you can now choose between 3 rounding options for handicap calculation:

  • Round up
  • Round down
  • Standard Rounding (Rounding up if the decimal is .5 or higher, down otherwise).

"Not Playing For Points"

New
Do you ever have a sub or alternate that shows up, but ends up not being needed? It wouldn't be cool to just send him or her home, so why not let them play anyway?

We now support this as an option so that they can be included in side games like skins and closest-to-the-pin. This of course also lets the round count towards their league handicap. When setting up a match, just check the "not playing for points" box and any sort of scoring earned will not count towards the individual or team standings.

Larger Team Sizes

Improvement
Previously, Team sizes were restricted to teams of 2 for team mode scoring. We've updated this and now you can have teams of any size.

Scramble Mode

New
We now support Scramble mode for seasons and rounds. You can enable it for either from their corresponding settings page.

When enabled, "Teams" will be used as the scoring entities rather than Golfers. Be sure to have your Teams setup here

"Pick Up"

New
We're thrilled to introduce a new feature to GolfSheet designed to significantly improve the pace of play: the new "Pick Up" option. Activate this feature to allow players to "pick up" their ball on a hole, assigning them the maximum strokes allowed by your group's handicap formula.

When a player opts to "pick up," their opponent is awarded the points for that hole — promoting faster play without compromising competitiveness. If both players decide to pick up, the points are equally divided.

You can enable this setting at the Season or Round level from either settings page.

Additional handicap formula setting - Max gross strokes over par

Improvement
We've expanded the scoring options for handicaps in our latest update. Previously, the system allowed setting a maximum number of strokes per hole contributing to a golfer's handicap, based on their net score. We've now introduced the ability to select between net or gross strokes over par for this calculation, providing greater flexibility in how handicaps are assessed and tailored to your group's rules.
